Not Much To Report

The last two weeks have not been filled with runs like I had planned.

After taking one week off to get over a minor case of pneumonia, I tried to workout inside but was still physically spent.  I have been unable to fall asleep quickly, which is unusual, and I have been sleeping late as a result.  Often staying bed past 11:00am, eating up most of my days off and screwing up my plans to get anything productive done. Run Log #3

Persistent Cold, Not the Temperature

I did not make all the progress I was looking to make.

Over the past month I have had a stuffy nose and sore throat and been trying to workout through it.  It has not gotten worse but I should have fought it off by now.  Over the past two days I have gotten most rest where I was planning to get in two more runs.  Sometimes you can work through a cold, this was not one of those times. On The Importance of Doing

My Own Motivation

I have been wanting to get a run in since last Tuesday (1/19).  But as soon as I healed up and felt ready the temperature dropped twenty degrees and it snowed.

Yep, definitely staying home, staying inside, and staying warm.

It continued to snow for a day straight.  Strong winds pelted my windows with ice and built snowdrifts to block people in their apartments.  It was not the most snow we have ever gotten but it was a strong showing.

I know what you are saying, ‘Come on, get out there. Stop making excuses!’

That’s what a part of me said, at least.  Then I told that part to go shove it and spent my morning in bed with a book. Continue reading On The Importance of Doing

Why You Need To Run- Part 1

All exercise has general health benefits, so why should you choose running?

If you are reading this I am sure you have been assaulted by the deluge of health claims for which exercise is awarded. Turn on the news, read a blog, talk to your doctor and they pour it in both ears. Have you drowned yet? I am interested in the subject, but even I tune it out most times. After a while it feels like I am being lectured to instead of being convinced.
